Microsoft goes password-free

Microsoft is thinking of doing away with passwords altogether, and providing its users with alternative means of authentication.

Indeed, even if passwords are the most traditional means of authentication, they are no less dangerous because they can always be guessed, especially now that hackers have the means to do so.

"Common attacks such as phishing, password spraying and credential stuffing are based on one immutable truth: when it comes to passwords, human behavior is predictable." declares Microsoft.

To alleviate this problem, Microsoft has come up with a solution that is at least extreme: no longer using a password, users can resort to other methods such as Microsoft Authentificator, Windows Hello or biometric solutions.
