1 million: the number of households connected to FTTH at Algérie Télécom
Significant progress in the generalization of Fiber to the Home (FTTH) As part of the drive to improve Internet connectivity, our country has reached a significant milestone in terms of high-speed Internet connectivity thanks to "Fiber to the Home" (FTTH) technology. Indeed, the number of homes connected via FTTH technology reached one million subscribers at the beginning of November 2023, marking exponential growth since the beginning of 2020, when it stood at around 53,000 subscribers. This leap forward has been accompanied by a substantial improvement in the speeds offered to subscribers, now reaching up to 300 Mbps, with reduced tariffs for higher speeds. To encourage the adoption of this advanced technology by households, sustained communication efforts were deployed, notably through awareness-raising campaigns conducted in the field, especially among citizens living in new urban centers. In addition to positive indicators such as the growing number of subscribers, improved bandwidths and the FTTH rollout rate, our country stands out for the particularity of deploying FTTH in all 58 wilayas, as part of a balanced approach aimed at generalizing ICT throughout the national territory.
